It's the Little Things: New Blooms, Grilling & the HUNGER GAMES!!

This week's weather did well by my new plants! 

The transplants took beautifully. 

My tulips have already started blooming. 

The snapdragon has tons of new buds, ready to burst! 

The dahlias and morning glories have poked through the ground with lots of little sprouts. 

Everything looks great so far! 

Don't you just love projects with such tangible results?

My mom always says that it is so much more rewarding to clean a dirty house than a spotless one!

Also, I'm spoiled. 
I enjoyed dinner outdoors twice this week! 
It was a very strange feeling - relinquishing control of the cooking. Have I mentioned yet that I'm a bit of an control freak avid cook?
I did it twice though, and the results were...well...


 DELICIOUS! 


Chris grilled up a tasty dinner for us on Sunday. 
He grilled marinated pork and shrimp with butter and Old Bay -and now, I'm hungry again just thinking about it! 
My parents grilled shrimp and served it over my mom's famous Caesar salad with homemade croutons and dressing. 


Spring Break should happen more often than once annually...I'm just saying...

I also chopped off 8 inches of my hair this week. It feels FANTASTIC. Chris has only ever known me with long hair, so I was interested to see his reaction. I didn't tell him that I was getting it cut or that I had a surprise or anything.  When he got here, he told me I looked pretty twice, and then 5 minutes later realized what I had changed. 
Success! 

AND, to SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST!!!!!! 

Nothing beats the midnight premiere of the Hunger Games on a school/work night with my little sister!! We got there over an hour early and it was jam packed! We barely got seats together. They did such a great job with the movie. Obviously, they had to leave out several small things from the book, to fit it into a reasonable amount of time, but honestly, they captured the characters and the storyline very well. I wanted to start from the beginning and watch it a second time as soon as it ended!

Have you read The Hunger Games Trilogy? 

No? 

Stop what you're doing right this very second and hustle your bum to the nearest bookstore or library. 

I'm not joking. Stop wasting your time reading my blog and MOVE it! 

I just finished re-reading it. 

Yes, these books are that good. I've read them twice in the past 6 months, and no, I don't have too much free time. I was up until 2:30am finishing it last night. 

You may recall my first post about this trilogy when I first discovered them. Well, the movie premiers at 12:01am on March 23. Guess who has tickets?! THIS GIRL! I'm using my 15 year old sister as an excuse for going to the premier on a work night/morning at an ungodly hour, but let's be honest...I'm crazy silly excited about this too! 

Both times while reading these, I laughed aloud, I cried, I turned the pages anxiously (figuratively of course, since I read it on my kindle). 

Normally, I don't have much faith in Hollywood when it comes to bringing stories to life, the images never quite seem to live up to my imagination and the story is never fully told. However, based on these pictures, they are right on track so far!

Prepare for Snow

Mid January. Although we've had bipolar weather recently, it is midwinter. I'm hoping we'll have at least one snowpocalypse since we're stuck with this chilly air! 

In preparation for said snowpocalypse, I have compiled some of my favorite movies, which I recommend you collect for when you are stuck indoors. 

I also recommend you stock up on yummy snacks, comfy pjs, and floppy toed socks. 

10 Day Challenge: Day 8

Day 8: Three films. 

"In a good shoe I wear a size six, but a seven feels so good I buy a size eight!"

This movie made me laugh and sob and laugh again. Such a classic.

"The fact that you're a sheriff is not germane to the situation..." "The GD Germans got nothin to do with it!"

"Honestly, if you're not willing to sound stupid, you don't deserve to be in love."

"You know what, I don't mind paying, but I hate the fact that you assume I'm paying. That's just...I mean, at least make a move! Like, make the reach for it or something!"

Once again, I'd like to include so many more! The Notebook, White Christmas, Across the Universe, Sweet Home Alabama, Emma, Die Hard, The Fifth Element, Pride and Prejudice, Thirteen Days, Gone With the Wind...this list goes on and on.

Mornin, ya ol' broads!

Frankly, I'm feeling a bit uninspired this week. Maybe it's the fact that my body is at war with me, maybe it's the general gray wardrobe the sky has adopted this week, or maybe it's just one of those weeks. However! It is Friday and that means it is time to get excited about the weekend. 

Things I'm looking forward to this weekend:

Dinner with a long lost gf tonight followed by a low key movie night :) Think I'll have any luck getting a guy to watch either of these?

Sailing tomorrow! My fingers are crossed for sunshiney weather and wind. 

Cerro Grande - my most favorite Mexican restaurant ever. Their white dipping sauce...and margaritas!
