Summer Escape from the City

Who's ready for weekend time?

I love summer weekends more than most. Have you ever heard that old song "Summertime Blues?" When I was younger, I never could understand it. How could anyone not like summertime?All of my summers were spent outdoors at the pool. All day every day. How could anyone ever be sad in the summer?

And then real life started. And I moved to a city. And every summer day wasn't spent at the Landing...

So now, whenever I can, I spend my weekends like this:

What are your weekend plans?

Sashimi doesn't get much fresher...Kamalame Pt. 2

I requested one thing from the gentlemen as we left Miami: 

Catch me some tuna for my birthday, 

please and thank you!

They happily obliged.

The island, Kamalame, is managed impeccably by David and his lovely beau Michael.  After the guys caught the tuna, David and Michael came over with some Sauvignon Blanc, or was it Riesling?


(All I know is, the switch back from beer to vino made my heart very happy!)


They also brought the fixings for the tuna. 


While yellowfin obviously is amazing as is, they added sweet chili sauce, garlic, some crunchy wonton bits and some herbs and created what can only be described as bliss. 

Utter.Total.Bliss 

 In 100% typical fashion, I completely interrogated them on how they met and fell in love. They humored me and it made my night to say the least.


It was such a treat meeting them, and I hope our paths cross again one day.

Kamalame Cay

Birthday trip of a lifetime.

Spoiled beyond belief.

Love, love, love.

Loved every second, every minute, every hour, every day of it. 

We left Miami by boat. Spent the day fishing (read: the guys fished and I sunbathed and took pictures) checked into Cat Cay around noon and then took off for Kamalame Cay, a small island off of Andros. 

Kamalame is so narrow that we had a waterfront view from the front and the back of the house.

As was only fitting, when we arrived in Kamalame at sunset, a rainbow greeted us. 

 (It would, right?)
