10 Day Challenge: Day 6

Day 6: Five Foods. This is the worst challenge ever. I love to eat. So much. These are just a few of my favorites. Also, just a disclaimer, I didn't include crabs because you should just assume based on previous readings that crabs and corn on the cob are my most favorite. I didn't want to be redundant by including them here!

Growing up, my parents had a rule that we were never allowed to say "I don't like" at the dinner table. We had to try everything at least once and finish the portion put on our plate. As a result, there is only one thing I absolute cannot eat: Olives.

I know it is a crime. People LOVE olives. Once though, my dad, who tends to be a pretty adventurous cook, ventured a little bit too far and tried to make an olive casserole. Let's just say, I'm not the only one in my family who no longer eats olives. In all fairness, that's the only thing he's ever made us eat that was actually bad.

So here is a brief selection of some of my most favorite foods!

Caprese Salad: By far, my most favorite summer food...so light and refreshing!
1
Fresh Seared Ahi Tuna: either blackened or coated in sesame
2
Gazpacho: my mom always made this for us in the summer with veggies from our garden. SO tasty.
3
This picture cheats a little bit because it shows two foods I adore: Lightly Steamed Asparagus and Seared Scallops

Fresh Oysters! We went to an oyster festival near my house and sampled a ton of oysters a couple weeks ago. It was a lot of fun.

If you ever make it to St. Mary's, they have an oyster shucking competition that will entertain the socks off of you!

Terrible picture quality, but Rockfish Bites are heaven. The best rockfish bites I've ever had, were made by Keith, the cook at Tall Timbers Marina in Tall Timbers, MD. He gets the rockfish from local fisherman and tosses it in some sort of amazing seasoning. I make a dipping sauce for them by mixing old bay into sour cream. It sounds gross, but it is taste bud bliss.

What are your most favorite foods? Do your favorites tend to change with the seasons or do they stay the same year round? Do you make your favorites well or do you have a person who makes them for you?
