We'd be happier as kittens - they are the ones doing the stalking

Vivi is a very curious kitten. She stalks anything that moves and even things that don't move! She loved the bathtub but was dismayed to find that it filled with water. Everything to her is a new game and something to learn about. In her world, everyone is here to keep her happy, to pet her, to play, to snuggle.

Wouldn't it be great if that were the case for us? Although, I must say, Maryland summers are pretty wonderful. Recently, life has been full of delightfully breezy evenings with friends, crabs, corn and beer. This weekend should include more of that! I've officially started the second half of this week, so the countdown to the weekend has begun.

I have had an eventful week though.

It seems I have acquired an admirer (ahem, stalker, cough). A harmless, middle-aged, blue collar stalker who has taken to coming into my office to say hello to me.

He works as a stone cutter on the other side of my alley and says hello every time I come and go, because that's where I park. He got me a card when I broke my foot, which was sweet.

Yesterday, the game changed. Now he comes inside, and sits awkwardly and has painful conversation with me at work. He seems simple, lonely and harmless, but I'm just not positive.

The man, who mind you, is double my age, informed me he would stop in on Friday for my lunch break. Quick and on top of my game, I told him I don't have a lunch break, I just eat at my desk as I work. You would think this was a blatant "no thank you".

He wasn't deterred. He said he'd just stop in to say hello.

Um, hello, social cues... anyone?!?

One of my friends has kindly informed me that according to Law and Order I'm totally screwed. I will not be alive in the near future. She offered this helpful advice.

Another friend has told me to create a faux fiance and wear a huge fake rock on my left hand and slip it into the conversation somehow.

My boss laughed at me and then offered to talk to the guy's boss.
For now, I wish I were a kitten with no worries who could take a nice little cat nap midday!
