I read my first Jane Austen novel when I was 11. I confess, Ms. Austen and I have had a long term love affair - she's never let me down.
Darcy's arrogance forever alarms and then charms me.
Elizabeth's boldness inspires me. Jane's propriety and reserved nature impress me.
Emma's penchant for matchmaking entices me.
I'm convinced Ms. Austen based Elinor and Marianne off of me and my sister Elisabeth.
Yes, this love affair has no end in sight.
Getting lost in her works is such a treat.
I highly recommend you take the plunge, if you haven't already.
Buchan blurs mythology with reality in the Dancing Floor. He slowly pulls you into scary situations before you know what's happening. I literally was on the edge of my seat for the last half of the book.
I'm counting these three as one because they are a trilogy. My friend Sarah recommended them to me and I'm hooked. They are a mix between romance, mythology, historical fiction, religion, and suspense. Please read them and love them as much as I did.
This book would qualify as historical fiction I suppose. It is a bit intense, but ends up so well. I have to confess I've read it more than once.
Okay, I cheated. There are definitely more than four books here. I didn't even get to talk about the Secret Life of Bees or the Help or the Notebook or anything by Chesterton, or the Great Gatsby. I need to stop. I know! I wasn't exaggerating when I told you I love to read.
