Unwise Strategy, Sir

Mr. Romney,

During what many have termed the "Great Recession", it might be considered an unwise strategic decision to quadruple the size of your oceanfront mansion in LaJolla, CA.

Mr. Bush, Sr. lost significant momentum in the race against Clinton based on his infamous response to the question "How has the national debt personally affected your lives and if it hasn't how can you honestly find a cure for the economic problems of the common people if you have no idea what is ailing them?" Mr. Bush checked his watch and straightened his suit and made a statement about it being unfair to say people with means can't understand the problems of the common people.

Mr. Romney, if a mistake so simple as checking your watch and fumbling an answer can ruin reelection prospects, how can you think your mansion expansion will go over any better than a lead balloon?

This isn't to say you aren't justified in using your money as you see fit. It is a free country and you should be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. But seriously, it doesn't take a genius to see what a poor move this is. If your goal is to garner support while the unemployment rate hovers around 9.1%, maybe enjoy the comforts of your primary town home, your other vacation home, and leave this one alone while in the national spotlight.

Sincerely,

A Befuddled American
