Yesterday was one of those days.
You know those days where your job depresses you, your mood matches the gray skies, and if anything else goes wrong you'll burst into tears?
Mostly those days make me want to crawl back into bed and pull the covers over my head until I can regain some perspective.

Yesterday though, my friend asked me to meet her for a 90 minute hot yoga class.
It was the last thing in the world I wanted to do...
(even though I love yoga, I was in a bit of a hate filled mood).
Nevertheless, I decided it was a good idea, mostly because I am going to Miami shortly and the thought of a bikini has me running to the gym!
Sometimes I can meditate and clear my mind, but mostly I just wait impatiently for the exercise to begin. Last night was a wait impatiently night.
We practice in a brick building in a long narrow room on the third floor with creaky wood floors. Every time someone new entered the room, I couldn't help but be distracted.
Sarah, our instructor, must have had some divine inspiration that I wasn't clearing my mind, because she immediately took us into one of the more intense practices I have ever attended.

The concentration required by our practice completely consumed my attention. My muscles ached trying to balance in the postures she selected and many times I got to the point where I thought I couldn't continue, but somehow I did.

On our walk home, my friend and I chatted. After a minute, I realized everything out of my mouth was incredibly positive. "I love these snow flurries. I'm so happy we went to practice. I loved the soundtrack the instructor used. Isn't it great to live this close to the studio!" ...and on and on.

I laughed once I realized what had happened.
My completely miserable day and the accompanying attitude had vanished and were replaced by a sense of happy calm and impending soreness in my muscles.
Do you ever have days like these? What snaps you out of your funk?
