When applying for the position of Executive Administrative Assistant, listing Arabic Dancing and specifying belly dancing as your hobby on your resume, and including a creepy unprofessional facebook style pic, may not be your best bet.
Yes, I'm screening resumes, and that happened in real life.
On another, completely unrelated note,
like many of you, I'm sure, I love new clothes. I love trying new styles and no matter how many outfits I have, I can always think of new things that would be "just perfect."
Even though wearing great clothes makes me happy, as a student, buying new clothes on the regular isn't really fiscally responsible.
SO, of my own volition, I have made a pact with myself to not purchase any new clothes until July.
The reality of the situation is this: I have plenty, even if I'm not always thrilled with my options.
Maybe I should take this opportunity to sort through what I actually wear vs. what I never wear. If I get my act together and do that, maybe I'll sell some of my old clothes and treat myself to something wonderful in July? Any thoughts or suggestions of how to best go about that?
Until then, it will take every ounce of will power not to purchase the following:

Do you have a weakness when it comes to shopping? Any tricks for staying strong?

Hi!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
Take care :)
Oh the things I see when I'm screening resumes! I've got some stories. I've often thought of starting a tumblr of resume fails, but that would be unprofessional. I have very little impulse control when it comes to shopping, but I find that setting a budget for the month usually works. (until I get a coupon or hear about a sale. I can always justify a purchase if it's a sale or coupon.)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I have such little self control when it comes to clothing. Although recently some friends and I did a "clothes swap". We gathered all of the stuff we didn't really wear anymore - piled it in the middle of a living room - and "shopped". We all walked away with a bunch of "new" stuff - and the rest went to Goodwill. Plus, any excuse to get all your friends together is great :)
ReplyDeleteI totally understand what you mean! I made myself go on a buying hiatus for the past month! I was going a little crazy with my online shopping lol!
